The words "Legendary", "Brilliant", "Inspiring" and "Iconic" have all been used to describe Jeff Astle who would have celebrated his 75th Birthday on Saturday 13th May 2017. To mark the occasion, The Jeff Astle Foundation is hosting its first annual Gala Dinner - a celebration befitting of Jeff’s memory.
Hosted by former Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers striker Duncan McKenzie, the night promises to be one to remember with guests including 1966 World Cup heroes Sir Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks OBE, the legendary Barry Fry and actor turned presenter/journalist Tom “Lofty” Watt.
Jeff’s wife, daughters, family and friends are thoroughly looking forward to special occasion. Jeff’s wife Laraine told us “Jeff loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family, friends and great people from the world of football. The 2017 Gala Dinner offers just that. Jeff would be very proud.”
To be held at Hotel Football, Manchester, the evening will kick off with a sparkling reception on the Hotel’s astro turf pitch, followed by a three-course dinner and spectacular raffle, plus silent auction and main event auction. The two highest bidders will also get the unique opportunity to hold aloft the 1966 World Cup and FA Cup trophies.
